Energy Benchmarking
“What you can measure, you can manage.”
Why benchmark?
- Discover ways to reduce energy costs by comparing your energy consumption, costs and energy saving technologies with other similar operations and find areas for improvement, all in a confidential environment. Neither your identity nor the locations used for comparison are ever revealed to others but what you do learn is specific to your business.
- Track and measure progress as you improve your energy productivity. Many rebates and incentives currently available require accurate reporting of energy savings. Recording “before” and “after” consumption levels gives a clear illustration of energy saved.
- Establish a baseline for emission credits. As the market for trading emission credits evolves, it is wise to be prepared to capitalize on the potential for revenue generation. In order to calculate credits, a baseline or starting point must be recorded and verified. Emission reductions are then measured from that point.
How does it work?
Information about your operation including present energy consumption, type and size of facility, equipment on site and results of the analysis are entered into our custom designed program and a report is produced. Greenhouses are compared with greenhouses, dairy operations with dairy operations, swine facilities with swine facilities, poultry farms with poultry farms, etc. so that the information received applies directly to you. Problem areas are pinpointed so that you can decide the best way to proceed. Your identity and those of the comparisons are never shown so your privacy is completely protected.
Once you have completed a project or several projects, consumption is again entered so that you can track your progress.
The best way to save on your energy costs is to use less energy!
